They have some good writers over there though, and found me a bunch of bands aside from Terrorizer. Althpugh, quite a few of their higher ranked albums are quite laughable such as Bloodrunk. Meh, i'll burn this today and see what happens. Worldfall ep had me on edge at one point.

After listening to this a few times I can agree with some of this review. It's nothing special but it's also not as bad as it's made out to be. I'm dropping my rating to a 2.5.

this album is fantastic...i was getting so sick and bored of the black metal scene. these guys finally brought some youth and innovation back to the genre. the song assassins is fucking fantastic. i dont care what all the "true black metal fans" think, this is just what black metal needed

it's really not that bad. i can't help feeling some of the hate for this comes from the album cover, which is fucking terrible. but the music itself is mostly average, although it has several moments of extreme lucidity. and it's a hell of a lot better than the steamer Enslaved dropped.

Gave this a listen the other night. Not too bad but nothing to write home about. 'Assassins' pretty much rules this album.

just listenening to this for the first time, and I really like it. I'm not an expert in black metal, probably that's why I love a lot of bands more "experienced" black metal listeners dislike. I think most people reviewing black metal tend to focus too much on the genre itself and how an album fits within that genre, whether it stays true to its origins or not, how the band fits in which black metal scene and such stuff I honestly don't give a shit about.
my opinion: psychedelic black metal ftw! ;)This Message Edited On 12.14.08

Yeah I agree with the above. Gotta love metal purists though...Changing up the style obviously gets no love for the black metal fans that would rather hear the same old recycled nonsense over and over again. This is a nice change from a mundane black metal genre of late, so points for mixing things up.

I think it's about time I put in my two cents to this discussion:
Album blows.

I was thinking of getting this but fuck that, getting Instinct: Decay first.
Are the other Nachtmystium albums any good or do these guys have a case of Teh Gay.

Seasick is kinda cool, even the part with the sax is a highlight actually. Not a good album though.
The reason I'm posting here is because I thought of a sweet name for some hippy metal shit....
FLOWER PETAL METAL
Not sure if it fits these guys, but I just find it amusing.

this was actually IGN's metal album of the year.

Not having heard their older material, I thought it was a decent listen. Maybe I'll be bored with it in a few weeks who knows. The Seasick trilogy wasn't very impressive but I like Assassins and Your True Enemy.

Ok, this doesn't sound too bad so far, except the vocals. The vocals are fucking horrible.

I thought the Seasick trilogy was actually the coolest part of the album. need to listen to this again to make it sure.

I think alot of people either haven't given this a fair chance or they are simply too elitist for this.

I don't get the hate for this record. It flows beautifully to me, and it has more psychedelic parts intertwined with the black metal
than past releases. A lot more experimental than their other releases, but I think they are going in the right direction.
