War All the Time, No Dev and Common Existence (on a good day) > this, but it's still fab. If you want a perfect genre staple from around this time, go bump The Artist in the Ambulance

The atmosphere on this is just amazing. Sounds like such a product of its time, so much energy and intensity but the whole thing just shimmers - and not in a kitschy dream-pop way like so many bands have gravitated to recently. I remember reading that Geoff really hated the production when this came out. But now it just adds to the charm, A Hole in the World is like a hazy dream but still super aggressive. Love it.

Saw them twice over Sunday and Monday in London, playing this album on the Sunday and then War All The Time on the Monday. Both incredibly awesome shows.
