So, this finally has a second page now.
Lunar Sanctum is much better than people seem to notice, yeah, and I think the more playful side of their sound is often undermined.
Another edit: This also was the start of their tradition to have some more rhythmically complex songs on every album. To be precise, it's Alexandria with the frequent changes between 5/4 and 3/4, on Karma it would be the title track, Epica has several contenders (but most of all III Ways to Epica), etc

Idk about the rest of the album but
The title track is incredible

Alexandria is one of those songs that don't really set themselves apart from the rest of the album at first but hold up extremely well on the long run

I don't know which one I like most on here, but it's not the t/t tbh. Maybe Sailorman's Hymn or Lunar Sanctum. Love the drums on Silent Goddess and Until Kingdom Come

Listening through their discography, I was disappointed in how this was just kinda straightforward power metal. First three had more interesting songwriting imo. The Inquisitor kicks ass though; it's like a prototype of March of Mephisto.

How could you hear The Shadow of Uther and NOT ride into battle?

Answer: if you don’t have a horse.

Would probably be a 4 if the next three albums weren't so freaking good. Some neat tracks here, like Alexandria.

Maybe don’t compare them then 😂
