I should check this out. I have no knowledge over metal (with the exception of Iron Maiden) so would this be a good place to start?

Yeah, this seems like a good metal album to be introduced to. It has all of the elements of the genre and they're done very well. Check it out.

God i wish the production was better. This shit would be rocking if the guitars weren't so weak and middy...

What are you talking about? The production is just fine on this album. Even so, that's no reaon to rate this a three.

Guitars and weak are something I can't comprehend when Shadows Fall are the subject.

I'm really digging "The Idiot Box" right now. Just some straight up great riffage and a damn good solo, too.

Im REALLY digging Destroyer of Senses right now. I love brian fair's vocals on that song. I can just imagine him headbanging on stage to it.

Shadows Fall's live shows are lethal just because Brian Fair headbangs quite a bit, causing his hair to decapitate fans.

I love this album especially the guitar playing. ^ I think they are good live, i just didn't like the bootleg quality they went for on the dvd.

This album is awesome. Just shy of being a perfect album. The guitarists are awesome at what they do, and Jason is beast on the kit. Brian does a great job with vocals, but I can see why some people don't care for him. I could never get my friend into this band for that reason.

Favorite tracks gotta be "Destroyer of Senses," "The Idiot Box," and "A Fire in Babylon."

You know, after all this death and post metal I've been listening to recently, I didnt know if I'd still love this CD. So I put it on, and wow, this still rocks so much. Donais's guitar work never ceases to amaze me, the guy composes perfect solos.

I bought this cd and do love the intensity in it... the instruments are amazing, i love fair's voice, and the lyrics are definitely worth listening to... hell, it even made me like the song 'Welcome to the Machine' as I am not a huge Pink Floyd fan at all... good review, better album.

My fav tracks are Stepping Outside the Circle and A Fire In Babylon. Everything is great tho, and Casting Shade is a genius track if you ask me.
