This is an awsome album. I may be wrong, but isn't this the first album that has the guitar player doing vocals? Anyways, B.Y.O.B. and and that last track are my favorite songs off this album. I love what b.y.o.b. stand for and what it means. That song really shows there hippie side. And that's cool because I'm kind of a hippie.

Hmmm. My first impressions of the album were mixed. I'm not actually too impressed with BYOB due to it's totally repetitive nature.
What I do like however is Radio/Video and Lost In Hollywood, the acoustic/folk style shows me a bit more of a creative side for Malakian, moving away slightly from just fast powerchords riffs.
I particularly like the inclusion of Malakian singing in some songs, rather than just err 'shouting'.
Some songs I can't stop listening to, some I just don't like at all, thus:
3.5/5 Marks.

they have really evolved their sound for the better. Lost In Hollywood is one of my most personal songs to me (that and Short Stories with Tragic Endings)

This was a definite grower on me.
I couldn't stand "Old School hollywood" at first, and I still don't love it, but it's kinda growing on me.
On the other hand, I'd suggest Daron Malakian to STOP THE SONGWRITING and focus on guitar playing. It's fun to listen to stuff like that sometimes, but A song that repeats itself a billion times is just... not right. My favorite track is "question!" and it was written by Serj only. I just seem to have a problem with the songwriting of Daron and I missed the solos, but hopefully Hypnotize will do better.
That and the fact that the freaking album cost me 16 bucks. With a discount! That makes it about...23 bucks on regular cost or something. I don't even know why was that. If it would've been a regular double album, 30 bucks would have been fine, but it will be about 46 bucks over all...
Why!!

they should have released mezmerize and hypnotize together in one disc....anyway this album was pretty good. best track has to be revenga

I would give it 5/5
I still think that Toxicity is their best album and most people may disagree with me on that but with Mezmerize, all of the tracks are really and I could listen to the album all the way through over and over again for a long time.

The reason that they released Mezmerise/Hypnotize in two installments is to allow time for each track to sink in, if they had 22 songs released at once they wouldn't be as noticed. IT works out nicely in the end because, by the time i'm finally starting to grow sick of this one, out comes the next album
