Groundbreaking album. Not too consistent though. The next album solves that issue...

Still rips like a mafqa! Id say its consistent enough to be a top-shelf thrashy-dm offering at the very least.

I prefer this to Unquestionable Presence personally

Too many riffs reminiscent of their contemporaries. Although this was much more technical than Morbid Angel and the Likes. "On They Slay" slays though

How could anyone prefer anything to UP? Its the best DM album ever made.

Obscura>UP imo. Both are masterpieces though.

This is ridiculously good fun, which seems odd to say considering the technical craft on show but forget about that it’s a blast. I’ve played it before but nothing stuck, not sure why because this seems plenty memorable.
I like UP more but this feels like an ‘easier’ listen.

Yeah this album (& band) are growing on me like fungus. What’s their ‘non-classic’ material like, any different?

Might bump my rating for this. Is it wrong that I'm starting to think that this band's first two albums might be my top 2 DM albums?

@deathschool: nope, these guys are awesome & supposedly pretty unique, so I’d say that’s fair enough.

I prefer Unquestionable Presence, but the title track of this album may be the best thing Atheist ever did
