Urm. Yeah it does.

Just listen to the sheer emotion Bannon conveys in Last Light. And how can you tell me that You Fail Me or Black Cloud isn't the band at some of their most ferocious and tightest moments?

So....I've only listened to Jane Doe. Is this similar?

Its similar in very few respects to be honest. This is definitely their most experimental album but it certainly doesn't mean that it isn't as heavy as Jane Doe. Perhaps not as insane on an instrument front (particularly the drumming, what Ben did on Jane Doe is beyond words for the most part) but concept wise and lyric wise its a superb album. Jacob really honed a newer vocal style too, branching out into an almost clean wail on Last Light and such.

But I'd definitely give it a listen. Its replay value is excellent once it grows on you and it does have some of the bands most unique and impressive tracks, ala Last Light, Black Cloud, Heartless, Drop Out and Eagles Become Vultures.

It feels like much more of a straight-forward hardcore album but it's perfectly constructed and only half-an-hour-ish long so it doesn't even have time to grow tiring. It's just a short blast of pure anguish and passion.

This album is actually brilliant. On par with No Heroes. Actually my second or 3rd fave at this point

I often think consider ranking this as Converge's best album over Jane Doe. It's tough, I usually go with Jane Doe in the end but this is a fantastic album. Their darkest and just as relentless and powerful as Jane Doe.

i really don't see the problem people have with this album. Yes, it is more experimental but either way it is what converge does best which is stay away from the pack and keep themselves on top with their innovative, sincere form of hardcore. I happen to think this album was one of their best even if it didn't pack as hard of a punch as some of the others did.

Eagles become vultures is a killer song.
