One of the worst Amorphis albums. Up there with Far From the Sun. So glad they recovered from this slump.

I always liked this album, one of my favs of theirs

I happen to like Am Universum and Tuonela more than any of the post-Pasi Koskinen Amorphis albums. They sound too "samey" to me. Maybe I haven't spent enough time with the last 5-6 albums, but I never got any "feel" from them when I've listened to them. Musically, they sound tight. But to me, Amorphis was always a band I connected with on another level. No connection with the Tomi albums at all.

And maybe it always bugged me that when Pasi left the band, the band claimed they wanted to go in a heavier direction. And then I hear Pasi screaming/growling his head off with Ajattara. I really wish Pasi had done more of that with Amorphis.

My feelings towards this album is pretty much the same as Paradise Lost's middle year albums (One Second and Host). Musically different but still good and underrated.
