I disagree with almost everything your review says. I have been a long time Russian circles fan. have seen them 4 times and will never miss a mdetroit metro area show, so I know their music.
Station is another great 7 songs. not one bad one on the album. (and a breakdown!!!)
They are considered post rock, but when i hear post rock I immediately think of bands try to hard to make "different" music that they make it so its not enjoyable to listen to, just cool to say you listen to, but Russian is not the case. Its great instrumental music, great use of tapping, and amazing live.
I have already listened to this album more than 50 times.

I thought this album was not only fantastic, but rather addictive, as well.
I listened to it at least five times within the week of my first listen and enjoyed it wholeheartedly each time. Really good stuff!

Post-rock is all about enjoyable aesthetics!

This is terrible. Lackluster melodies and hardly any of the energy that was on Enter.
|

What they were so good at hiding with their last record is that this band really has nothing to offer.

It wasn't bad, it had a couple superb moments but they were overshadowed by the rest of the album which seemed to drag on and on. Pretty boring.

Awesome new album...You definitely have to check out their live show if you get the chance. I found a really great article about the band and an extensive album review of Station at http://www.alarmpress.com/2987/music-interview/russian-circles/ , everyone needs to check this out...

Thanks man.

For fans of Russian Circles bigger orientations, Station might be a little boring, the band has grown less generous with the bombast, which in turn means less exhilaration Russian Circles are most impressive when they rock out.

Not finished with the whole thing yet, but I'm enjoying it. It's still Russian Circles, but it has a little more reserve to it.
Obviously not a masterpiece, but listenable and fun.
(I like post-rock, I don't care how repetitive it gets. Haters.)

I haven't really heard much post rock before, so I can't comment on the lack of orignality and whatever. Thought the album was pretty good after 1.5 listens (Haven't heard Enter).
Anyone want to recommend something really great from this genre so I have something to compare it to?

Campaign, Versus and Youngblood are pretty nice, but the rest is just boring and completely uninspired.

It's a decent album. Good for falling asleep to. Deserves more than a 1/5 anyway.

Their first album Enter is a bit more energetic. But yeah, overall they make me yawn.
