You saw Koloss songs live and were bored? Holy shit, aha I thought they were some of the most powerful metal songs live I've ever seen. And yeah, if you're looking for melody Meshuggah is definitely not the band to be listening to

My problem with CC is that it is so obviously a rip off of other thrash bands (Metallica) with a little bit of technicality added, it's not really as mature/composed as well as anything after it and it feels like they don't know what they want to sound like as a band. They found their sound with DEI and later redefined it with Nothing.

I haven't heard it in a while, so I'm not quite sure if I'd say it is a rip off, but I do agree that they hadn't quite defined their sound yet, considering it sounds so much different from everything else that they've done.

Oh and yeah, I think the Koloss songs may have been a bit better live the first time I saw them because I was moshing or getting pushed around almost the entire time. When I saw them earlier this year, I was with my gf who was scared so I could do no moshing . Therefore, I was kind of bored with the standing around during Koloss.

there are good kinds of all over the place, and bad kinds of all over the place. most albums are a mix. don't get me wrong, CC is great. but out of their discog, I find it to be the most "bad - all over the place"

it was them dabbing their foot in thrash

they realized it's such a limited musical market since most thrash has been done to death and they had more potential to offer something better, which is what they did

they took the strengths of their sound (thrash but not over the top, jazz solos, drums) and did something which basically changed the entire metal landscape

Yeah, DEI is great, but I don't think it's their best like most people on Sputnik

Really the only song off of DEI that I can recall is Future Breed Machine. I remember listening to the album in the car once with some friends, but how would you describe that album exactly? I remember that from the few songs that I heard, it kind of reminded me of robots having violent sex or something lol!

Going with the unpopular opinion here, I'm gonna say Catch Thirtythree- it's such a win in every way (lyrics, terrifying atmosphere, use of silence mixed with brutality, mindfuck music ability, etc)
