Excellent review. Very well-written. I'll be recieving this soon. DEI is,imo, one of the best Metal releases of the 90's.

All of the songs are great here, but I really dig the first five and then especially Dancers to A Discordant System.

Can anyone post a large pic of the banned artwork? This Message Edited On 03.26.08

Haake's spoken vocals on Dancers are awesomely insane. It really pumps me up and if listening closely I get the need to run outside and crush some skulls.

I think Jens does a pretty good job myself. This album is kind of a mindfuck.

I was at the music store and it was between this, A Sense of Purpose and Blooddrunk.
Blooddrunk was eliminated first and in the end i chose this. Hope I don't regret itThis Message Edited On 04.16.08

I am extremely tempted to make this a 5, every song is fuckin ace. Meshuggah have topped the greatness of DEI and C33. Pravus was the song that was taking a while to click for me but it finally did.

Blender only gave this a 2, so I think I know I can't trust them now.

^Yeah. Kinda surprised they reviewed a metal album tbh. Anyway my friend keeps raving this album to me but I have never liked what I've heard from them before. So does that mean I should probably stick with my plan of not listening to this album?

This is better than my initial reaction to the songs, it's refreshing to listen to once in a while.

So many people praise Tomas Haake on this album, but the new Meshuggah bass player, Dick Lövgren, needs some serious love. There are some insanely sick bass playing on this album and nobody seems to notice. This alone separates obZen from the rest of the Meshuggah albums for me.
