I mean compared to a lot of extreme/technical metal out there, Meshuggah is being creative with the technicality ("Bleed"). It's just a matter of opinion so I won't bother justifying why I don't have a 'logical flaw' in my post.

i understand why some of you are making fun of meshuggah being considered a technical band. the labels put on them mostly come from fans. they themsleves in interviews say they don't consider themslves technical at all and don't try to sound that way, they just play weird naturally. in other words they don't set out to make the rhythms sound weird.

for everyone trying to say these are the same old riffs i can tell you they aren't. the riff on bleed comes to mind that one sounds like nothing else they have done. the whole album kind of sounds like them but different than all the other albums, especially catch 33.

i liked it. it's not classic,i reserve that for "I" but it was very different for them and strange but in a good way.

i do kind of wish the lead singer did some different things more. he can sing and i love when he just does spoken words. i'd have to say though the monotone screaming is my only problem with this album.

Tomas Haake actually does the spoken vocals. In case you haven't noticed, Jens has been screaming his lungs out since DEI. The only thing that has changed slightly is his voice.

Yep. Great review. I loved Catch 33, but it's a creepy listen, and actually makes me a bit nauseous. This is a real return to form, and feels more tactile.
