sudden flashback to when metalsucks said Scott Hull was the best drummer in modern metal for his drum machine work and a bunch of sad metal nerds got upset

anybody who's ever programmed drums outside of an electronic music context knows it's pretty hard to actually get sounding convincing or non-mechanical so yeah that's a cool pick actually

tbh i havent but i agree

i don't think making it sound "convincing" was ever really the MO tbf, and imo kind of defeats the point of having a drum machine instead of a live drummer in this context anyways

The more I think about it the more the fact that the vocalist ISNT just an aged Mookie who can't scream anymore bothers me. Like they got together and made a conscious choice to invite this dude into the band instead of someone even remotely appropriate to try and fill Mookies shoes... like who resurrects an iconic band after a decade just to be like shieeeeeeeet.... one of our most quintessential members is gone and I can't program drums good so let's just invite the first singer and drummer we see into the band it'll be lit

Its like if Crystal Castles had replaced Alice with Halsey or some shit

yeah this definitely one of the best uses of a drum machine I've heard so far
they're really replacing the drummer AND vocalist? kinda lame

Super lame. Not to discount Hamilton Jordan's distinct guitar work throughout their discog, but Mookie was - for me and many others I believe - the most irreplaceable member. I dunno what the fuck the other guy ever did that Mookie couldn't do but apparently it wasn't program drums or rip the keys. If other dude was gone it might be fine but this line up is just a transparent cash in on the established name if you ask me

Cutting Pink With Knives is maybe closer to this than Horse cos they have the grind and blastbeats sorta feel
|

Ah yeah, those guys are kind of okay I guess. Weird that I probably didn’t check HORSE because of the beyond stupid band name, yet I’ve heard Cutting Pink who literally have one of the worst band names of all time.
