As much as I like his free jazz evolution I sometimes wish he'd written down more straight forward stuff like this



His playing on this whole thing is stellar and his main motifs are instantly memorable all around

what are you saying? he made a ton of straight forward jazz pre-1965, far more than any of his free jazz material
