descendents, just a couple of things:



1. A review doesn't need to mention every single track. Hell, some reviewers only describe three tracks! The review format isn't set in stone.



2. SINCE WHEN IS A REVIEW NOT OPINIONATED? Isn't that the whole point; to give your opinion of an album? We're not dealing in absolute truths here, we're dealing in what one person thinks of an album.



3. How can an opinion not be justified? You say I didn't back up the 2.5. I feel I did. I mentioned the songs I felt were ace, the songs I felt were average, and the songs I felt sucked, and I gave reasons why each was such.



Unless people are willing to admit that they just don't think I'm justified because I wrote a negative review of a popular band, I suggest you rethink your posts.This Message Edited On 01.25.08

good review, but i disagree with practically everything you say. the album is amazing imo, not one bad track. this apperatus is also a very good song.

The mars volta isn't for you, plain and simple man. Review it from the standpoint of what one should expect from the mars volta. If you go into this album thinking there's not going to be sound diarrhea in every track, then you should not be reviewing these guys.





The mars volta is good. they're just NOT for you.

John, I don't go out of my way to hate them. It's just... they make it so easy to. As for me repeating the same points in each review, it's cause they usually repeat the same mistakes in each album.



I still remain steadfast that I don't hate them. I consider Frances to be great, and Deloused isn't bad either. These last two albums, however, mostly I find annoying.

hahahaahahaahahaha there is so much wrong with this review, but instead of taking 30 mins to write out everything thats bad about it im just going to laugh and state a basic fact, number one and biggest mistake was reviewing a mars volta album before it has even came out, you must listen to this album atleast 30+ times before your ears and brain can understand the genious of it. If the bedlam and goliath made you hate the mars volta then this review made me hate you

That's a very irregular laugh you have there, Ptree. You might wanna have that checked.

But, you know, I guess it was okay for Iluvatar and Moonlight to review the album before it came out, because they liked it. I guess I'm just a big doodoo head.



And why does everyone keep using the words "hate" and "suck". I use the word hate once in the review, and that's to explain my past feelings. And 2.5 does not mean "suck". 2.5 means "average". It's a boilerplate Mars Volta album with any many hits as misses.

I finally read this whole review and I am mortified based on the fact you downplayed the album and the mars volta throughout the whole review and then put in your little lifeboat sentence "Honestly, The Bedlam In Goliath isn’t a completely terrible album." If you want something unfocused, read your review again.
