@PTSS
I meant the way it flows, not the Jazz-fusion style that made me fall in love with TMV. Frances is much better. But it does bring something new to their table.

The flow? I would honestly say this album has the worst flow of all their records, namely because of the terrible transitions from song to song. At least in Amputechture they were left out for conceptual reasons. Here, they just feel tacked on.This Message Edited On 01.24.08

I do think they should add more jazz fusion to their stuff, and less latin influences to make their stuff closer to Frances. Would do them a whole world of good.

I just listened to the stream and this is probably the best thing they've done since their debut (which is their only album I really find myself coming back to), but I still don't think it is all that good (although the real album might make me feel different since the stream quality itself sounds like crap). This Message Edited On 01.25.08

i feel like you should have listend to this album more before you reviewed it, it seems like you have a great vibe on the album as a whole cause thats what you get when you first listen to an album, but its not till the 25th plus time where you get to understand each track by track, then you can really write a review

Well, I've listened to the album more times than I can count (I lost count around 13-16 times) and it is officially teh sehcks. I wanted to rate it anything but 4.5, because I actually wanted to review it, but no fucking way i'm doing a 3rd 4.5 review for this. But yeah, it really is a 4.5.

Well written review.
If you thought that the Volta would never make another successful release after the let-down of Amputechture
Maybe this was a let down on this website and your opinion, but it was still a strong effort. Matter of fact, it was still better than most of the crap that comes out today.
This album is certainly amazing!

^Agreed. How much crap Amputechture got is indicitive of the expectations of TMV in general; if they were Fall Out Boy or something Amputecture would be hailed as gold.
|

Right but if it were a FOB album it would be a lil more liked amirite
|
| |
OK. I haven't actually heard Amputechture, I'm going off what TMV fans say. So I should shut up.

Just listen to the first three minutes of Vicarious Atonement, and you'll get the vibe...that's all the album does. Outside of Viscera Eyes.

...and Day of the Baphomets.
Just get it Mediocre, it's a great album and better than most of the shit released these days. If you really like what TMV is all about then there's no way around this, you'll get it sooner or later :D

I disagree Amputechture is much more of a grower then previous Volta albums. That being said I still think its fantastic besides El Ciervo Vulnerado, which is good but just too long. It's just not atmospheric enough because it's not A true concept album so it feel shallow compared to their other works.

Yeah, it's not good, it's a 3.5!
Get it through your head, it's not De-Loused, nothing they do again will ever be De-Loused.

No it's good. If their other works were non-existant Amputechture would be seen as much greater then it is seen now imo. It's like comparing greatness to perfection. Thats why albums should be judged as what they are and not as a comparison to a discography. Like with the movie Departed. It's fantastic when based in its own realm, but when compared to other's of Scorcese's greats like Raging Bull and Goodfellas, the flaws are just more evident. Sorry for the movie reference...it's the only one that came to mind

Deloused is just hyped up for all the commercial listeners, as a nice "volta friendly" album. People can easily digest the track breakdown. It is obviously a very strong effort, but it is so basic in comparison to the evolutions of their sound. Amputechture is still an amazing album, and frankly I'm surprised that people feel they even have to post tracks in its defense.
