For me it goes Fraces>bedlam (only just)>de-loused>amp
I agree, as long as you replace Amputechture with Tremulant and throw Amputechture away.

Just finished this. It's a lot more energetic than I anticipated, which is cool because it gives this album an identity within the TMV discography. Current favorites are Ilyena, Goliath, Cavalettas, Ouroborous and Conjugal Burns. Hard to type song titles ftw!

I'm was never really into TMV that much but this probably my favourite. I need to give Frances more time though.

If I didn't like any of their previous albums, is there a fraction of a chance I'll enjoy this one?

Because he has a nauseating music taste. I on the other hand, really need to check out this band sometime soon.

If you didn't like their previous albums because they were too drawn out or proggy, you might like this album as it's definately the most energetic one.

man....amputechture is possibly the straightest album ever made. let's just establish that much right now...

as for the new joint: bedlam is amazing until cavalettas and the second half which is considerably less impressive....though ouroborous is pretty solid.

i do miss the spanish though

Believe it or not, not many people would want to look at your review if it's A) posted on another site and if it's B) posted in someone else's review. Not cool by any means, kid.

Frances is a huge grower. Make sure you listen to the whole thing at one sitting too. It helps the experience.

Anyway, i just got down with TBIG, and its a sick album.

anyone that says muse is like TMV is getting modern prog rock confused with neo-prog pop.

They're really nothing alike.

However, OoS was pretty badass.

The site is user-submitted stuff. I own almost every muse and TMV record (and am a big Muse fan) and I can honestly say they don't sound alike at all. The Mars Volta is based on a completely different premise than Muse is. Muse sounds like alt-rocky prog, stuff like Radiohead, and The Mars Volta makes use of a lot of dissonance and ambience, whereas Muse comes out with four-minute-hit singles. Sure, they're more complex, but Muse isn't even really a prog rock band (their stuff is not super-technical apart from some of the piano interludes.)

The Mars Volta is all about technicality.

They don't sound alike either. The only similarity is in the vocals both using a lot of high register.
