No, he also said that the songwriting is directionless, the riffs suck and the album lacks any recognizable emotion. Basically, he's saying it was churned out for $$$This Message Edited On 01.16.08

I mean he spent the first two paragraphs talking about how bad it is that they tried to clone copy their previous sound. I havent listened to all the album, so I cant really comment outside what I previously said.

If I had not heard TEOH before, I would give this maybe a 2.5 at best. However, becauseI know this band can do more, it makes this look shameful.

Killswitch have fallen into a rut, I agree with you. Yeah, sure, this is their "sound," but bloody hell, rehashing the same riffs and scream verse/sung chorus patterns gets old after a goddamn while. Break The Silence is a killer track though...gotta love the opening riff.

All In all, Holy Diver is probaly my favorite track from them. Put on a good show and looking to hear a new album in late 08 or 09. This dosen't have the replay factor as TEOHA I realized.

Well When Darkness Falls is my favorite. Holy Diver's just sick and the video's great.

I like this review. You do have a point there. I liked My Curse until I heard the radio edit, and now I can't even stand to listen to it. Arms of Sorrow isn't bad though, and I agree with Holy Diver being good.

Oh, and to add to the half random Papa Roach comments, Infest was the a sick album back in the day, but I'm not a fan of their new work.

Love the album, but like each of the reviews I've seen from you this was really good. The ending "tour" was a little lame to me though.

I'm not quite sure where you get the idea of untalented guitarists, since (in my experience) the average metalcore guitarist has the talent of the guitarists in Demon Hunter (although I should not be comparing the two, and now that I think about it, I shouldn't have their albums and TEOH at the same rating.)

I really think the lowest this deserves is a 2.5, because KSE plays the same brand of metalcore as most, except better.

And although I'm probably in the minority, I thought this was much better than TEOH. After the title track it went downhill, and only a couple of said songs were above filler quality. However here, the only boring song was Desperate Times. Plus not every track feels as monotonous as TEOH.This Message Edited On 01.16.08

Excellent review Crysis. I still find a guilty pleasure in this album from time to time, mainly because of the sweetest melodies in the guitar lines (ie. My Curse). This album, for the most part, is bland and boring though............maybe I just grew out this music a couple of years ago.

A 1.5 seems a little harsh for someone who liked the last album. I agree that this is their worst one, but it just seems like you rated it really low out of sheer disappointment. I feel this is decent, but they set the bar too high for themselves apparently. Theyll never top AOJB imo.

Listening to the first track of this album makes me think of why you rated this so low. This isn't as bad as some metalcore out there, at least not a 1.5. The musicianship is better than that.

I liked this album when i bought it. I recently bought the extended version of AOJB (got to love the abbrev.) and that is a fantastic album. TEOH is average

Crysis, nice review, you are 100% on them recycling riffs. but if you want to hear it to its greatest effect download "Rusted Embrace" from their self titled then listen to "This is Absolution". DUH DUH DUH DUH...lots of double bass

Eye of the Storm is good, rest is poor

I think the only true test of an albums greatness is how many times you listen to it, after you first put it down.

I bought this album, liked it, put it down after about a week. now id much prefer to listen to AOJB, TEOH or something else lol

I agree with your entire review except for the part about The End Of Heartache being any good... good review, as usual.
