I just think you need a stronger foundation for it.

Yeah, really my main beef with the album is that it's tiring to listen to. I get bored with the record like after holy diver. It isn't classic to me because to me it consists of one good song and 8 ok ones that don't really interest me at all. The band is competent (and I guess Dio is a good vocalist, although I'm not crazy about his voice) and that's really the thing: the band is good in itself but they aren't really playing anything that sticks for me.

I probably would have given it a 2.5 but holy diver and rainbow in the dark are just so good.

Seriously good review. I agree fully with this overrated piece of shit album that I wasted my money on. Overrated is how I view Dio, especially in Black Sabbath. He sucked live when I saw him on the Heaven and Hell tour. I will relisten to this album and get back to this conversation. Overlook my comment for the time being.
Coke, don't get so bent out of shape when someone doesn't agree with your opinion about this album. Maybe some of the points made here were a little biased but he still backed himself up well. I know you think that this is classic, but there are so many albums out there that are classic as well that you knock. This Message Edited On 12.11.07

I thought the review was good, but coke says he didn't like the review and it wasn't just because the rating, so lets be done.
|

After going back and rereading some of the comments, I apologize to Coke. Maybe its because I don't see why this album is so special either, but I have to give it to Coke because of his intellect on the subject.
I have to wonder just how much thought went into this review as it looks more like my stream of conscioussness rants I type out in R&M than an actual review.
This is probably the best comment on this site.

You lost me at Sabbath really is better off with Dio than Ozzy.

Dio's albums were more consistent, but they never had such highlights like in MoR or SBS
|
| |
The only albums that weren't consistent were Never Say Die, and Technical Ecstasy...
Tony Iommi could have solved this all by changing the name of the band...Zeppelin wouldn't have continued without Plant. The most hypocritical quote from Tony Iommi is that he would sooner dissolve the band then tarnish their reputation...everything after Dio and before the Reunions with both Ozzy and Dio were mostly shameful.

The drumming was just there? The hell? The drumming in the title track alone is just fantastic.
|
| |
The title track IS fantastic. Can't fault it at all. The album sorta ranges from ok to great with two classics, so it's probably a 3.5 from me.

This is a good review, I would pos but nobody seems to care anymore. I disagree with what you say for the most part, but this is a pretty solid take on the record.

You are fucking retarded!
