avg is too high imo, it's heavy and really good but not that good. The drums are kinda poor but I know that's not the focus.

that's no excuse to overate the music though that's ridiculous. not saying that you specifically did but just in general.

If the artist's background resonates with you then it may alter your connection with it. Music isn't appreciated in a vacuum you dunces.

if sound can't travel in vacuum, then why is my vacuum cleaner so loud? 🤔

I've lost the language to describe what this album does for me, but if I put enough time into an album (ten years wtf) with features that expand and grow upon repeat listens, rather than becoming stale and deflating (as happens often for me with enveloping, textured metal albums like this), I'll push the rating up. It comes to inform what I like about the particular "sound" conjured, weaker elements be damned (& part and parcel).

In this particular instance the artist's background doesn't alter my perception of the album, but Xeno is right.

What are you talking about, out of all the stupid ass shit that gets said on this site that's the most asinine? This album is lower quality than most albums that are in the 4.3 range on this site and I don't think it's fair that this is held to that standard because there's a sad story behind it. Souvlaki, for example, has a 4.3. If the story resonates with you fine, if that makes the music more interesting fine, but there's no way this album deserves a 4.3 avg for the music by itself imo.

A lot of people might have overrated Bowie's last album because he died but it was a really well made album too.
