still brazy is deff not a good starting album

racism seems like a fine ideology fs - pre-edit
|
| |
Well it was a joke
But then I remembered that some users might take that seriously
|
| |
Lol why you change your name Cl0ver?
I would say Still Brazy is a good starting point because it's pretty reminiscent of 90's west coast but also sounds undeniably modern. Well, that is if you are really trying to start modern and go back in time.
|
| |
but why listen to an emulation of hip hop's golden age when you can familiarize yourself with the material of that age itself?
also i changed my name cuz the 0 was driving me crazy.
|
| |
OK LotusFlower than where should I go next if you don't mind me asking?

Well to be fair I'm barely familiar with rap and I started with Wu-Tang, love on first listen.
|
| |
I mean, its always worth checking out the stock choices like Wu-Tang, Nas, Biggie, Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, Outkast, ect.
Or maybe the less popular but stull popular choices like Black Starr, KRS-One, Organized Konfusion.
Or be like me and avoid all popular stuff and take solace in backpack core like Eyedea, No heroes, Busdriver, Signor Benedick, Saul Williams Z-Ro, ect.
|
| |
My next listen is gonna be Still Brazy, I listened to the t/t and it's sick.
|
| |
Yeah ALA what I would do personally is go with some classics and mix in some newer albums.
|
| |
Just think it would be easier for him to get into that first instead of say The Chronic or something because of it's modern sound. Some people start with the classics and get stuck there and never check anything post-2004 that isn't Eminem or post golden age Wu Tang & Nas.
Also, a lot of golden age stuff can sound kind of cheesy to new listeners, especially the late 80's stuff like Public Enemy and Beastie Boys.
