Definitely. This is a more refined version of Mandylion.

If anything this album is proof of how The Gathering continued their progression into more experimental AND accessible music territory, at least that's how I see it. Whilst for me this album sometimes lacks that powerful punch that Mandylion had in spades (honestly, I don't mean this to sound like a negative thing), it so makes up for it with three of my favourite 90s-era Gathering tracks, being "Kevin's Telescope", "The Earth is my Witness" and the lovely title track. Those tracks are simply excellent and there's nothing else to say.

This is slicker than Mandylion for sure (and imo much better); it's all about Third Chance and On Most Surfacs though

The Earth is My Witness and New Moon, Different Day sounded a bit out of place when I first listened to this one but they're probably the most atmospheric tracks on here.

Favorite cover art also.

New Moon definitely took me a long time to get, but damn...those vibes.

Mandylion is way better than this. This whole album focuses around Anneke's voice in doing so the ruin the whole. I personally do not enjoy listening to this album, instead I turn to Mandylion with excitment everytime. Only at the 34 minute mark it actually gets interesting with Kevin's Telescope, highlight of the album for me and the only song there to listen as afterwards in two songs time the album ends. Give it how many times you want it still doesn't stand a chance against the masterpiece that is Mandylion. Read this please as a 0.02 eurocents review. Happy audition

But this is more energetic and (imo) convincing; Mandylion was more interesting as an instrumental piece, but Anneke's voice did not fit particularly well and the lyrics were farcical.

Nah can't agree that this one focuses on Anneke too much, as the absolute highlight for me is the songwriting which of course makes perfect use of her vocals. But still this is a great album without Anneke which becomes brilliant with her input.

Haven't listened to this one and Mandylion in ages. Always been more of a fan of their non metal stuff.
