i'm being condescending?? haha ok then maybe you should stop being condescending as well. stop being hypocritical

you are saying that hardcore is a style that CAME FROM punk. that's what you just said. so you are saying hardcore is a ROOT of punk. a "sub-genre" of punk if you will. therefore the "punk" label is the one that matters.

If it's a sub-genre than the punk label is just extra weight; if you're noting it as hardcore, you're going with the notion that it's derived from hardcore. As I said, "punk" is extraneous. It's like saying "this is bebop jazz". It's unnecessary and redundant. Now stop posting. I say this not to be condescending but to keep your ridiculous off topic banter out of the review thread. Seriously.

You're saying that to Cocaine? You must have a death wish.

yes i am, you know why? cause he called me a dipshit for calling a hardcore PUNK band, punk. how funny is that? that is like calling me a dipshit for saying that metallica is metal.

OH! but wait! they are obviously THRASH metal! guess i should stop being a dipshit and call metallica "thrash" metal from now on and not just metal.

idiot

Minor Threat is hardcore and you called a band that was obviously not hardcore a hardcore band so someone told you to listen to Minor Threat
Please quit backpedaling and accept your retardation already

I called you a dipshit for saying the band was "hardcore punk" as opposed to "hardcore". You then argued that it was the case because they were "rooted in punk", an irrelevant point since as you yourself noted (lol contradiction), hardcore was a derivative of punk.

once again stop preaching to me if you arent going to follow your own advice.

you need to look up the word extraneous. it basically means irrelevant. how can the punk label be irrelevant if punk came FIRST. they are a hardcore punk band. you are saying i am wrong abt something i am NOT wrong abt. i might not have labeled the band COMPLETELY right the first time, but they are still punk nonetheless. hardcore punk that is

No, you said they werent hardcore, but rather they were hardcore punk. Punk is irrelevant because it's implied. Christ. Last post on the issue.

ok i just want to bring up one last point to the reason why i called THIS band (BMTH) hardcore.

"In the 2000s, The term hardcore has been applied to some bands that play death metal, metalcore or thrash metal. Typical of this new genre are breakdowns and harshly delivered vocals; sometimes verging on death metal growls."

that basically describes this band to a t. just because hardcore is a subgenre from punk THIRTY f'in YEARS ago, does not mean the term hardcore has not changed. it has and it will continue to change just as music labels always do. now do you understand why i called them hardcore? ok i'm done just trying to get you all to understand where i am coming from
