wow, this was a great surprise even after all this hype. Quite a beastly review too.

hey guys i know you guys love to spam but can we move this to my review i mean i am very important and deserve 100% of all respect on the site for i am nick greer
lolololaughs
I disagree with Chan though when he said Slowly Through A Vector, Orgy Of Critics, Chia-Like I Shall Grow were the not so great songs on the last SA album.
Slowly Through a Vector is easily the weakest song on the album with one sort of catchy and repetitive line, while Orgy of Critics is pretty decent. However, Chia is a really good song. And for that I am distressed. This Message Edited On 10.28.07

I love Say Anything. I've loved them since ...is a Real Boy. In fact, for about 2 months, I wouldn't listen to anything else. At all.
But In Defense Of The Genre just doesn't do it for me.
Maybe it's because the second disc really only has four good songs (Spores, Plea, About Falling, and In Defense Of The Genre) that I don't like it. And maybe it's because there really aren't that many songs that just make me go "wow."
Skinny Mean Man, Shiksa, Baby Girl, Spores, and The Church Channel are all A-MAZE-ZING but the rest are just "eh"
whereas ...is a Real Boy really only had one slight letdown track (Every Man Has A Molly)
oh well.
Skinny Mean Man is the best song Say Anything have ever written, and if it were on ...is a Real Boy, there wouldn't possible BE a better album tha that one.
But this CD(s) is just....ehhh

I can't stand the guest vocals of 'Sorry, Dudes My Bad', whoever it was. The whiny bit. It sounds soooo bad.

to me "That Is Why" sounds like a Nightmare of You song, almost identical to their sound.

hey. the guy who sings with max in "about falling" isn't the guy from the red jumpsuit... it's matt skiba, from alkaline trio.

meh, I love the guest vocals on Sorry Dudes, My Bad. I don't really listen to Saves the Day at all though.
My rating might go up, but I think a 4 is fine for now. Not really a disappointment at all.

That's one incredibly long review, and I feel no incentive to read it having heard their previous work. This Message Edited On 11.07.07

Great review!
To Max Bemis: IT'S OKAY TO USE FORMULAS TO WRITE SONGS! Some songs just end bad, and all of them aren't long enough. Plea doesn't make a great Admit It!!, That Is Why had that useless outro, and This Is Fucking Ecstasy needed a closing chorus. ARGH!!!
In any case, I've spinned this 5 times now since I've bought it about a week ago. It's not going to get old any time soon.

A little abrupt, but I think that makes the song.

It's not great when you have an extremely catchy chorus you want to sing all the way to the end of the song, which should have been 40 seconds longer.
