I just don’t enjoy every popular DM band ever, which is no different to any other genre tbh, I just notice more elitist gate-keeping in certain Sputrealms… perhaps this is one such area?
This band are actually ‘half-decent’ (for the record - so not terrible or anything) and Flug’s list was fine with the exception of these guys being included. I just found it amusing that it was arguably the three most heralded DM bands of all-time + ‘these guys’, but I guess at least that made it a marginally more interesting opinion.

I mean look at this discography on rym, half of it is bolded and they got a decent amount of ratings so I guess popularity disagrees with your claim about popularity. This album specifically is the 9th highest ranked death metal album on there.
