Definitely my favorite punk cd. Is Ruiner worth getting into?

I didn't like the one time I went through it, but it could be after repeated listens...

Check out Propagandhi if you haven't bodom, they're incredible. This Message Edited On 03.11.08

Wilhelm>Propagandhi

Ruiner is great, but it's a bit different from this album. It's got very few traditional guitar solos, and much more in the way of straight tapping rhythms. It's also a bit darker, catchier in a more mainline way, and cleaner in terms of production. Kinda gets over long at times too. I thought it was amazing when I first heard it, but this album outdoes it for sure.

Wilhelm>Propagandhi
there's no way one is better than the other imo.

Ruiner isn't honestly worth getting after this one unless you're curious about AWS's past stuff. It gets repetitive quickly and has, basically, "prototypes" of what's on CS.

i saw these guys in birmingham UK a coupla months ago, and it was one the most amazing gigs i've ever been to, despite the place being half empty! i've never seen so much energy on one stage, and i was stood in front of trevor most of the gig - i've never seen anyone else so obviously and visibly enjoying being on stage as that guy, what a legend!

here's the set they played:

the kids can eat a bag of dicks (first song)

(in no particular order):

i wipe my ass with showbiz

5 to 9

die while we're young

jaws 3, people 0

these dead streets

we built this city! (on debts and booze)

killing it

the soft sell

me vs. morrissey in the pretentiousness contest (the ladder match)

congratulations

famous friends and fashion drunks

william blake overdrive

hike

last three of set: anchor end, the rip, the horse

encore - the king is dead

FUCKING AMAZING.

Propagandhi = AWS. Say what you will but Prop has four near-classic records already, whereas Career Suicide is IMHO the only classic/essential AWS record, and it takes a lot of influence from Today's Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes.

I dunno, I don't see how any of Propagandhi's works are near classic. Their last two records are 4+, but HTCE is such a NOFX ripoff that I can barely listen to it. Granted, haven't heard LTMR or the bsides, but yeah.

Saw them on the Unseen tour last night. Still haven't seen These Dead Streets, but I'm hoping they'll play it next time. For a support set, this was pretty much perfect. Every member of that band just has so much energy on stage it's ridiculous. I'll go out on a limb and say this was the best single performance I've ever seen.

Jaws 3, People 0

And I agree about this being the most essential AWS record, but they have at least 2-3 classic songs on each record from Mute Print on. This Message Edited On 03.22.08

WOW.

I listen to this about 3 times a week (usually in my car) and I'm still not sick of it. The only possible flaw I can think of is that because of this album, I barely listen to anything else they've released. It's good, but it just can't compare.

Perfect.

My friend used to listen to this so many times a day, and though I thought it was as equally awesome as he did, I never understand why he listened to it so much.

but honestly these guys are damn good, and their playing is so tight it's ridiculous.

If I listen to this album once a day, It's hard for me to not listen to most of the tracks at least twice. And I listen to this a couple times a week. THIS CD IS JUST SO FUCKING AWESOME!

Can't wait for the new one. And if that new Propagandhi song on Youtube is any indication, their album is gonna give this some competition.
