Why not? Just cause it isn't? They definitely write more uniquely and interestingly as time goes on. They use interesting chord structures in the riffs with songs like Heaven in Her Arms, Drop Out, or Bare My Teeth and add more far away influences, like the dark post rock of Phoenix in Flight. How they progress is admirable.
A lot of the post-hardcore bits they do in the 90's work were a little generic for the period.

Why does Spotify say this is a 2005 album? Is it a remaster? And if so why isn't it in the sputnik database?

Album Rating: 4.5
Yeah it's the 2005 remaster with a few bonus tracks. More of a Spotify problem than a Sput one imo

I mean, if the YFM redux gets added to the sputnik database, why not this?

Isn't the YFM redux like a markedly different product from the original? Like a remix as well as a remaster?
The remaster for this is the basic nominal remaster every band eventually does to all their albums that replaces the original recordings.

^ yep, there’s a definite distinction. YFM absolutely should have two entries in the database, but I don’t think this one should.

Ah, thanks for clarifying. I don't remember the original mix of this. Just the Spotify one I heard. I just assumed it got a similar treatment

Saddest day is easily their best song and one of the best hardcore songs ever written for that matter. Great flow and song writing, doesn’t feel forced but gets just about every base covered that the band can do

Why do you hate Jane Doe so much Storm?
Is it a personal reason?

Album Rating: 4.0
No I just try and try every year but every time it doesn’t sound good to me and it doesn’t have any interesting ideas going on. On You Fail Me, Petitioning, Forever Comes, and No Heroes you can find great sounds and ideas. I haven’t even tried the last two new albums tho

You should. They are quite unique compared to their other albums.
When I first heard Jane Doe I wasn't really into it - it took me a while (quite a while actually) before it sort of clicked.
It sort of helped me get over a long term relationship that ended in tragedy so I suppose that may be why I love it so much but I just didn't understand why you didn't like it so much.

I remember hating Jane Doe when I first heard it, and multiple times after. I just didn't get it. Eventually the emotional impact of it hit me. I don't see how you can like all of those other albums, and not like Jane Doe. Especially this early Converge work. Makes no sense.

That is why I asked him about it. It really doesn't make sense.
