This isn't quite as good as Alaska. The songwriting was a lot more solid and memorable, and there are simply too much Dragonforce/Dream Theater moments here. The intro of 'Prequel To The Sequel' is cool though. This Message Edited On 09.06.07

This album is pretty much amazing. It's quirky, but it wouldn't be BTBAM at all without the cheese. None of the cons anyone has mentioned make Colors any less enjoyable.

However, the stuff going down on the teaser on their myspace is god awful.

I'm still curious as to who does the deeper Patton-esque parts in Sun/Prequel, and who does the whiny scramzing in prequel 2 da sequels.

Dunno about the Patton-esque parts, but the "whiny scramzing" is Adam from Fear Before the March of Flames.

About the album, though; I think it's incredible. I really like The Silent Circus and Alaska, but for some reason I've never been able to REALLY get into them and fully enjoy them. This album, on the other hand, is probably my favorite of the year so far.

This album is absolutely incredible, and IMHO craps on The Silent Circus and, yes, Alaska as well. It's by far their most complete work yet. There are so many epic, heart-stopping moments on this record it's not even funny. For some reason it's a lot easier to listen to front-to-back than any of their other records. Easily best of the year or damn close. 4.75 for me.

I'm too into progressive metal to not like this more than all of their other releases. I enjoy nearly every moment...

4/5 from me so far.

"I love this album. I can listen to it from start to finish and not even come close to getting bored. I love their other albums as well, and yes the really heavy breakdowns are pretty similar to the other albums. For me its still a really amazing album. Probably my favorite by them. "

I'll probably end up getting this to see if I like it more than Alaska. Alaska, other than Selkies, was boring as hell.

I agree with Kings and Doppel in saying other than Selkies, Alaska isn't that great, but I wouldn't say it's boring at all.

I'm not all that impressed with "Informal Gluttony." The middle eastern augmented seconds are too much exoticism, not enough cool dissonance.
