if this was as cathartic for you as any korn album was for other kids who were "angry at the world"

then take a step back and re-analyze

Did I say blind anger? It was a silly metaphorical statement, give me a break... This music is a direct expression of aggressive emotions. I have never listened to this when I was in a peaceful state. How is that not a
completely obvious trait of this music?

I'm not knocking the band, I simply said they were very cathartic for me at one time. I can guarantee that they look at their music as a cathartic experience. No one sings this type of music who is content with life.
Nothing wrong with that... I completely understand it, but don't kid yourself on something that's brazenly obvious.

I know, I'm not jabbing back. I'm just clarifying that you don't have to be a moron who listens to Korn with blind rage to feel negativity. The mind can take you down deep, dark journeys that can become a hellish
existence. This isn't happy people music.... They're expressing darkness in a very thoughtful way... although never really finding peace.

"This was such a cathartic band for me back in the day when I was angry at the world."

this is not a metaphor. I'm guessing you meant this in a hyperbolic sense in which case it's not meant to be taken seriously and all of your subsequent statements make a little less sense if that isn't to be taken at face value.

"This music is a direct expression of aggressive emotions. I have never listened to this when I was in a peaceful state. How is that not a completely obvious trait of this music?"

Who said its not? All I'm alluding to is the fact that other people's experiences with music and this music in particular may be different than your own gasp ikr

"No one sings this type of music who is content with life. Nothing wrong with that... I completely understand it, but don't kid yourself on something that's brazenly obvious."

I think what youve forgone in your own generalizations is that anger and aggression are not necessarily bad things and expressing them does not denote a primitive and simply angry worldview. I think You think in extremes. Again, consider the possibility that other peoples' continuing experiences with this band and their music may differ from your own.

In short, don't act like you can no longer enjoy this band because you've somehow evolved beyond the only possible state of mind in which to connect with this cuz that's just silly

I'm not trying to make direct jabs at u either pie, I like u. I just had to say something cuz I'm generally a pretty happy and laid

back dude IMO and yet this is easily one of my favorite albums and some things u said seem misrepresentative of my kind

Read my last post. I may have been speaking in tongues before, but I think it clarifies my point.

I still have all their album in my library, by the way. So, I don't think I'm more righteous then them or anyone else. I'm saying that this is dense, dark, and heavy emotional music that you don't normally listen to when
you're feeling loose and content with life. Maybe in general you think you are, but there's still something dormant inside of you that attracts you to this type of music. It's in me too.

I find a lot of peace in different parts of Neurosis' music.

"heavy emotional music that you don't normally listen to when

but see this is what I'm talking about. how do you know that other people don't listen to it in that state of being? I'm not questioning your experience with this album at all. but even looking at myself as an example, I think your general view of people who listen to and connect with this is unrepresentative.

like relinquished said, it can be a deep spiritual journey, and it's different for a lot of people. nobody is disputing that it's heavy, aggressive music. but I don't think that says everything you think it does about its listeners.

It just doesn't work that way. You wouldn't be attracted to this type of music without some discontent inside. You can slap the "spiritual" tag on anything and try to make it more meaningful. This is more of a release
of intense emotions... You could see Ghandi listening to this? One likes aggressive, depressive music because there's something inside that connects.

I've had a respect for Neurosis for a while now, dude. I don't want to come off like I'm bashing them. I'm just saying their music is a release of heavy energies, and there has to be those heavy energies inside to
connect with this.... whether you're conscious of it or not.

i don't find neurosis' music to be depressive. and i don't find a lot of their stuff to be all that aggressive.

lol dude SPEAK FOR YOURSELF

You can slap the "spiritual" tag on anything and try to make it more meaningful.

just like you can slap "intense emotions" to to something like la dispute and make their music mean

more than lyrical farts and crappy instrumentation.

"You could see Ghandi listening to this?

hold on let me ask hi-OH WAIT HE'S DEAD. he wouldn't find any purpose for himself to listen to music

other than some ragupati raghav raja ram shit so nice try.

One likes aggressive, depressive music because there's something inside that connects.

sure this maybe some abrasive-SOUNDING music but it doesn't make inherently angry in respects to the

messages or overall atmosphere. there's nothing angry on purify, or the surreal samples, or the

whole album.

I don't want to come off like I'm bashing them.

you're not - you're just misinterpreting the music
