Easily their worst album. Very boring and a huge drop in quality after Vile.
This is the first album with Pat O'Brien who is a monster guitar player in his own right, however his talents aren't reflected on this album. He has few writing credits, and all but one track are very average songs.
I think the band were lost when they were writing this album. Perhaps they felt unsatisfied with Vile as it was originally being written with Chris Barnes. The fact is, Vile smokes this album in every way from riffs to vocals to the production.
Gallery of Suicide is 44 minutes in length, but with 14 uninspired songs it feels like a rush job. Plenty of short forgettable tracks and the longer ones aren't much better. The song structures are generic and boring, very few memorable riffs, the bass is average, as are the vocals.
The only real standout is the instrumental 'From Skin To Liquid.' It's far from a classic, but it's better than the majority of the tracks on here.

This album rules. Easily one of my favorites by them. Not sure how this album can be so sharply criticized when this album just jams so hard. Dismembered and Molested is one of my favorites by the band.

Any band that relies on shock value & the novelty of mindless brutality can't be very good. Reading some of the track titles alone is making me want to stay far, far away from this.
If I was to ignore the lyrics/track titles/imagery etc...
I've heard about 5 albums labelled as grind in my life & the couple that are DM/grind weren't particularly enjoyable, so doubt I'm missing out anyway.

Theyre not really grind at all, idk why that tag is there. Anyways, CC have some excellent songwriting and riffs, dont let the caveman lyrics deter you.
Also, the idea that they must be "relying" on shock value is a logical fallacy. Maybe they like the shock factor AND care about writing interesting music? It can be both you know, it doesnt have to be one or the other. Using shocking subject matter doesnt automatically mean that theyre just using it to compensate for a lack of talent.
