I need to give this another spin soon. Really, really liked it. Didn't quite love it.
Meanwhile I've been listening to In the Wake of Poseidon nonstop. That album is so underrated and I don't even care if it's "ITCOTCK PART 2".

It is ITCOTCK PART 2 yeah. Has its moments though.

I'll best honest, some days I prefer Poseidon to ITCOTKC (Everything that follows is my personal opinion, of course):
-21st Century Schizoid Man and Pictures of a City are essentially equals.
-I prefer Cadence and Cascade to I Talk to the Wind by a decent margin
-Epitaph edges out In the Wake of Poseidon by a little, but it's very close.
-Moonchild is great, for two and a half minutes. The ten minute improv is a bit tiresome.
-Meanwhile, Cat Food is such a neat, unique, funky jam.
-I'd probably take In the Court of the Crimson King over The Devil's Triangle, but they are both very different, and I love the build-up of The Devil's Triangle.
Maybe I'm crazy. But even if ITWOP was based heavily on ITCOTKC, I'm always shocked to see the huge disparity in ratings on website like Sput or RYM. In a vacuum, Poseidone is fucking awesome.

It being Court part two easily easily disproven by the fact side two is nothing like Court at all

Yeah, but that side has the Planets suite and cat food. Cat food is kind of lame.

Side 1 is ITCotCK part 2, but yea Side 2 is its own thing. Devil's Triangle never did much for me but Cat Food is alright. The t/t and Cadence and Cascade are two of their best songs and the album's a bit underrated I guess, but all their 70s albums afterwards are better, besides maybe Starless & Bible Black.

It's not even Mars aside from one minor motif otherwise they would've been hit with a lawsuit by Holst's estate

I haven't listened to it in a long time frip so you are probably right. I just remember it being an adaptation of the suite they played in Hyde Park.

When the Islands lineup played they did Devil's Triangle more similarly to Mars sometimes, although the Court lineup just straight did Mars.

In terms of covers, the one-off cover of Creator Has a Master Plan (the entire thing too!) is probably the most interesting

Well, I'm heading this one as we speak on my KC discog run...I know Ghandi's take...better than Red guys? (I find hard to believe! ahah)

This is awesome but it doesn't touch Red imo. But your mileage may vary, obviously.
First track is fucking killer, though. Maybe one of my favorite KC songs. (Larks Part I.)

Well...I have to say the violins mixed with the thick distortion from guitars is impressing me, then you get this the coolest bassline with crazy mathy guitars!! yess!! ....uuuuu the drumms...okay...a treat this first track indeed...shit!
Their albums are always inconsistent for better and/or worst...so lets see!

It definitely didn't sound like it was made in 73' it sounds like something closer to the 90's. It's a crazy album.

Yeah, nothing else quite like this in 1973. What an album, and what an amazing precursor to RED (though I can totally understand people preferring this, too).
