Also being void of the atmosphere, the build-up, and the density is a huge downside on this album for long-time fans. But at least the repetitiveness is gone. This band did feel they wanted to shorten their songs so they'll be able to play more songs live.

I can understand some of the critism leveled at this album but some of the ruthless slagging is off base if you really put an ear to it. Some songs are substantially better than others but overall not at all a waste of plastic as some would have you believe.

How in the hell does Pelican get labeled an Isis rip off? One of the reasons I love pelican so much is that they're pretty much the only 'postmetal/sludge/whatever' band NOT trying to be Isis:/

This is the only Pelican album I have, I think its good but people tell me "the fire in our throats will beckon the thaw" is their masterpiece. Im a big fan of tool, Isis, and the red Sparowes which are the only sorta related things I have, just wondering should I bother with "Australasia" or keep hunting for The fire in our throats...?
|
| |
Personally I think Australasia is better than The Fire In Our Throats...

ZZZZ...

Criminally under rated. If this same album was released by another band it would be at least a 3.8
