Ratings mean nothing on this site. Although, I usually go through my ratings every once in a while and change them up; a couple at a time. I would say my ratings are pretty up to date hahaha.

gaslight: this is thee perfect post metal/rock album - the slow sections are brooding and captivating, the melodies are incredibly forlorn, hopeless and beautiful, the vocals are ominous and emotional, the lyrics are introspective, cryptic, and poetic, and the heavy sections feature some of the best metal riffs ever written. i absolutely cannot get enough of this album.

YES! And to think that I really didn't really like doom too much when I first got into this. They do have some 'doom' to them (more sludge to be more specific).

A good "gateway" band for people who like this that want to get into doom is Void of Silence. Especially their album "Human Antithesis".

I don't know man, I take my ratings here pretty seriously, if for no other reason than they're an excellent personal indicator of how I feel about one album in relation to another, which is something I like to sort out in my head.

I like that my pie char is 100% metal lol. I listen to a bunch of different stuff, but I simply don't associate any of it with this website. I think wizard said it in one of my lists: this is my magic carpet to metal land.
I need to hear more from this band.

my favorite neurosis album has to be "times of grace" i own all their albums and they all have something different to offer in some ways..."through silver in blood" is a classic too....man i never really gave this album a chance....ill have to give it a spin tommorow after work to see why i put this one aside..
and isis isnt better then neurosis..they both have their own bag of tricks..hard to compare the two really ...because they both operate on different methodologies....neurosis is more a composite of sludge/doom/crust and some hardcore with some heavy post rock....meh i cant really label it...they have a plethora of different elements they use over their catalog..isis to me is more ambient/drone kinda post rock...they get mellower every album.

But as a whole, ratings mean nothing. You have to consider how many users are fanboys/ trolls who rate an album after one lister (or no listens). Therefore, is that rating really representative when a few years go by? There is no way of telling who is fact or fiction.
