Worst main studio Ween album cuz it's so plain and commercial, but yeah it's Ween, so it's still good

*insert "it's not brown enough" claim.*

Worst main studio ween album would be La Cucaracha. This album is like white chocolate and that's brown enough for me. She's Your Baby is one of my favorite Ween tracks and probably the most commercial.

I like how campy Even If You Don't is

Ween are real good at doing impressions of other artists, and this album has the most impressions of artists I know and enjoy, therefore it is my favorite

Really don't get people who dismiss this for being too polished or normal-sounding. They already made The Pod, they already made Pure Guava, if they were still doing lo-fi joke songs at this point in their career it would be kind of sad, imo

Yes, they have no obligation to being stationary. But while this is a very evolved record, catchy, scratch a little beneath the surface, and I don't find it as teeming with personality as their earlier stuff.

EDIT: This one's for you Melinda.

I criticize it because Quebec is polished and not lo-fi yet it's filled with a ton of creative ideas

Also La Cucaracha is slightly better than this honestly (Blue Balloon, Learnin' to Love, and Your Party are all amazing imo)

La Cuca is decent but Quebec makes for such a great sendoff for their whole body of work that I tend to act like it doesn't exist

How crazy is that Devin Townsend HATES Ween but loved this album so much that it inspired him to re think his next album.

Are you sure he hates them? He covered Transdermal Celebration from Quebec too

At least is what I understood in one of his podcasts when talking about them.

Have a hard time getting into this one. Doesn't have the wack genius of The Mollusk nor the darkness and odd focus of the brilliant Quebec.

straight-forward and focused song-writing that hits well if you like the more accessible tracks on their post-Guava albums. The whacky genius is still there IMO, but much more subtle or diluted amongst the McCartney-Lennon inspired bits (ig. Pandy Fackler is straight Ween whackiness). But overall yeah I agree, this one takes a back seat in the Ween catalogue for me as well. Not the worst but probably the least unique

on a side note I saw a band called Starcrawler (opening for Boris) play "My Own Bare Hands" last night, was a fun moment. La Cucaracha turns 17 tomorrow, maybe that's why

As good as this honestly
