Ps, this review seems a tad harsh and I'm not sure your song ratings really translate into a 4.5, if I read your review without knowing the overall score I would guess you would grade it around a 3.5, just me though =/

P.s.s., everybody lay off the new stuff...I like to see Modest Mouse's progression as being similar to a band like...say, Radiohead(?)...old stuff is amazing, but the new stuff is also amazing for completely different reasons..c'mon folks everyone rejoice in Isaac Brock's madness

the last few modest mouse albums all have had fairly positive receptions from the sputnik community as a whole (based on the total ratings), with their newest EP charting relatively high for this year's new releases (#20 with a 4 rating)

Album Rating: 4.0
its a great album but your rating system is wacked, 91% when only one song gets over a 90?
|

Well I don't really like the feel of those records, I guess. On this and long drive the band feels so much looser, and Brock's vocals are so much crazier, and that's what I want when I'm in the mood for this band. I also dig the sprawling feel of this compared to their major label stuff, which seems too condensed for a band like this.
In between the time I wrote that comment though and now, I really warmed up to The Moon and Antarctica, which I owned for years but never really got into much. Saw it as a more mature version of the type of band that made this
not a fan of their other major label stuff tho
