I meant to comment last month, especially about the DEP comment, but I find the two bands extremely different. Not taking anything away from Daughters, but I take a higher degree of 'care' in DEP's songwriting while Daughters, especially on the first two albums, are writing with the attitude that 'this sounds pretty rad, fuck it, let's do this.' Also, their styles are vastly different, as Daughters are more spatial with effects and sliding riffs, while DEP resort to much more tapping and time-signature driven works. Also, this drummer is heavily reliant on the bass drum to drive every sort of dynamic, and I frankly love it. Probably the most significant similarity is how the chords are obviously intended to sound near-nauseating at times.

Aside, I certainly don't think this album is similar to their newest album, mainly because of the clarity of production and their overall scheme of fast paced, shredding face demeanor that we find here. Still think this is their best album, without question.

@fromtheinside - Yeah, exactly. If anything Daughters are creating a new subgenre in a small sense with their reliance of sliding riffs (and on this record how they create such chaotic music with a much more relaxed vocal performance than one would expect). It's that little intricacy that sets them apart from DEP, Ed Gein, The Locust, etc.

Generally whenever I find a grind band that doesn't have shitty vocals or boring instrumental work I like them no matter how medioce they may be. But this is actually really good grindcore

There are moments that remind of the early SOAD.
