I'm thinking this is wrong because Canada Songs is growing and Hell Songs is maybe falling. I need more time.

Yeah I have the record on the shelf, was one of my all time favorites, but with this the lyrical content clearly relates to the real life actions so it's a very strange feeling

'but with this the lyrical content clearly relates to the real life actions so it's a very strange feeling'
yeah i totally get the strange feeling as well
just a bit sick of the weird performative morality of people telling other people they wont be listening to something or will be figuratively 'putting it in the bin' when it achieves literally nothing

On one hand, I sympathize with that viewpoint due to how it can alter a work. When something *that* bad becomes public knowledge, it can, in a way, change perception to where the listening experience in uncomfortable.
On the other hand, the line that is drawn and who it is drawn for can be very subjective. Also, because of how private/unknown some bands can be, or how they might unfortunately get away with whatever they do, it's also easy to unknowingly support awful people despite trying not to.
Some people refuse to watch Kevin Spacey movies/shows again, some look past it. It's a moral conundrum of sorts and I get how each side feels in that regard. Even though you may not 'technically' be supporting, it can feel that way.

weirdly with films i sort of get it more. watching someone i find morally reprehensible is a lot more uncomfortable than listening to them play guitar or whatever instrument

Yeah the visual/physical aspect is likely more immediate.

I didn't say you were wrong my man, I sympathize with both views. You're welcome to enjoy and dislike whatever you enjoy/dislike.

also in fairness, i have had no personal experiences that would put me off listening to an abuser. i can definitely see how for some people it would really sour the whole experience
i wish to retroactively tone down my previous comment thanks

I don't think you need personal experiences to feel uncomfortable listening to fuck whisperer or something

I mean I know she’s super fucked up and I’m all for due process, but something about how she talks about it reminds me of reflecting on my own bad experiences.
