sorry to continue the debate, but even Varg Vikernes of Burzum has said that the original mission of black metal in Norway around 1993-94 was compromised and ruined beyond recognition when poser bands like Dimmu showed up.

But, Varg Vikernes is a psychopath.

Both bands are new territory for me(Satyricon & Dimmu).

In short im new to Blackmetal. They are very different bands and IMO both of them has their goods & weakness & i like both of them.

my two cents

Just got this (thanks to your rec's Hawks ;)). Very, very surprised at this (considering I was first exposed to these guys through their newer albums).

Haven't listened to this, or any Satyricon in a while. Giving this a spin right now since its my favorite Satyricon album.

Haven't checked any of their early stuff yet. Didn't like their new stuff at all

This is like 6 months late, but their early stuff is nothing like the new stuff. Newer stuff is "black n roll" and the earlier stuff is black/viking metal.

All of the first 3 albums are ace. My favorite is probably Nemesis Divina though.

great review! great album! i have to say i love Satyricon's early and new stuff, d.m.t. will never be topped imo. to say their new stuff is pop is a bit childish really, i put their most mainstream song (K.I.N.G.) on in a pub in the town i live in and nearly got lynched, for your average person linkin park is metal, puts things in perspective in terms of satyricon being pop

Definitely my favourite Satyricon album, with epics such as 'Woods of eternity' and 'The king of the shadowthrone'.

All aboard the Satyricon bump train. This was my favorite record of theirs when I was in high school.

Just making my rounds. Seeing if I can stir any interest in this dank ass BM record.
