Love this album. Not one of my Bruce faves, though. And although it contains a few of my favorite Springsteeen songs, I can say that about all his albums. The production is murky here on the original recording and the band sounds very meshed. I understand that is what Bruce was shooting for, I just wonder why? Otherwise this is a fantastic record, full of good energy and vibes and is a glimpse of a great artist and his band emerging. Jungleland is one of my all time favorite songs and Backsteets is a real heartbreaker. Thunder Road, a big slice of classic americana. Can't say enough about these songs. She's The One and especially Tenth Avenue Freeze Out really knock me out. Now if could just talk about that production.....This Message Edited On 04.20.06

I've changed my mind considerably about Bruce Springsteen. He's a fantastic songwriter. Jungleland takes my breath away, and Thunder Road has really grown on me.

Excellent review, however, I was hoping either you or one of your subscribers can help me out. While listening to Born To Run recently, I got curious about "Stockton's Wings" as mentioned in the song, Backstreets. This lead to surfing the web and finding many who think this is a song about a MAN named Terry. Not long after first buying this album back in the 70's, I remember reading a write-up about the songs on the album. Now I know, without question, Terry is NOT a man. But i also remember a description of who "the last of the Duke Street Kings" was, among other characters on the album. That was a long time ago. Do you remember or has anyone read (from a RELIABLE source) where or what I read? I have a habit of hearing a name or place in a song and looking it up for curiousity's sake. You or your subscribers could really help me out. Thanks for reading.

BTW, I'd prefer anyone with any info to also supply me with their source. Thanks all.

This is, in my opinion, one of the greatest albums of all time.
I love all the songs on here, and you can feel Springsteen's raw emotion coming through in all the songs.
Simply amazing CD.
