but yeah i really dont care for the vast majority of modern metalcore due to how neutered it is. this band brings the crunch.

It’s funny, like 3-5 years ago the whole 90s metalcore revival shit was all the rage and now hardcore is all about beatdown again. Oh well, thus the cycle continues.

Tbf though, some of the best recent hardcore/mathcore albums have come out in the last year or two.

The Callous Daoboys - Celebrity Therapist and Thoughtcrimes - Altered Pasts. They are kinda Dillinger worship but are still very unique in their own right. The new Black Matter Device is also a really fun record.

I would very much be down with the frenetic-style of metalcore making a comeback.

honestly can’t think of the last modern metalcore or mathcore album i’ve heard that was good like, at all. seeing and having heard what’s big in that genre rn makes me just assume the rest is bad too

Sanity Universal was super important for fucking sure. Sad how they wasted it. Could have been the new Botch/Converge of the 2020s. Really high caliber songwriting.

i find that theres still so much good shit from the 90s/2000s that i can just still keep on finding obscure gems rather than listening to new stuff
i have almost 0 interest in the newer sorts of metalcore. my god sharptone records puts out some lifeless dogshit
