This album is uneven as all fuck, but when it hits its groove it has some of their best 90s jams

I can easily see why among all of their albums, Kim's singing may be the least accessible here. It's neurotic, mostly out of tune, and sexy.

When is she not out of tune lol

I'd say vocally, Kim is EASILY the biggest draw
oozing with personality on almost everything she sings
|
| |
Agree to disagree. I usually skip her songs. Lee is the man

The best SY songs are with Kim on vocals: Shadow of a Doubt, ‘Cross the Breeze, JC, Pacific Coast Highway and so on. Even on this album, Heather Angel is among the highlights. Agreed on Lee though, Thurston is 3rd to 4th in the band when it comes to singing.

yeah, it's quite emphatically Kim > everyone else, for me. I don't mind Lee, but yeah. Agreed with Ars in that it's the personality over any quantifiable 'quality' of one's voice
again, not heard this yet, just a general point about SY

This album is a little bit all over the place, but has some of their greatest jams. Should probably drop my rating to 4, but I'm a fanboy, and this album came out during an important period of my life, holds too many memories.

My faves on here are French Tickler, The Ineffable Me, and Karen Koltrane, and Sunday

Nice picks, but Hoarfrost, Hits of Sunshine, Karen Koltrane and Heather Angel for me.
