i am the robots,

Give your opinion a rest, would you? I could also say that your taste in music is pretty lame IMO as well. But that would be mean.

Everyone is entitled to what they like. You can't help what you enjoy listening to.

I've heard a couple of songs from these guys and I didn't hate it but I wasn't impressed either. And underoath has absolutely nothing in common with BTM.

No, it's just that I think it's funny that you'd say that an incredibly original album sucks unexplainably, and then call something as boring and derivative as BTM great. This Message Edited On 01.10.08

No, it's a fact that Beneath The Massacre has done nothing original whatsoever, it's also pretty true that Cries Of The Past is a pretty unique album.

Just cause an album is unique or creative doesn't mean its good....sure unique is cool but it's not always cool.

Fact is a strong word. I'd say the FACT that they wrote their own songs make them original. Maybe not innovative, but original none the less.

not really original... theres a whole bunch of techmetal bands that can make riffs like BTM, not exactly the same stuff but in the same ballpark...
innovative in the sense that no one plays their kind of music as fast as they can. there aint any solos, but they dont need it cause their entire album is impossible for nearly 95% of all guitarists out there... minus their breakdowns of course lol *chug....chugchugchug........ chug....*

I forgot about this band until just now (reading Belay my Last review)

Good review, I agree the triggering on the drums is ridiculous, and turns me off a bit.

I'll give it a 3, they're the Suicide Silence of death metal scene.

one of my biggest bet peeves. though because you have an awesome album as your avatar i'll overlook it and educate you.

triggering a bass or snare = making it easier to hear on the record so they don't have to beat the crap out of the drum because playing that fast really really hard (as loud as it is on the record) would be very very very VERY difficult. There's an urban myth that if you trigger your bass drum or your snare drum it makes you play faster. not true. occasionally (and very because the technology is not completely perfect the sensor will add or remove a beat, and if you add a beat, it makes it sound faster for that beat. usually bands edit this out because it sounds very sloppy.

so in other words, Yes, he probably did trigger, but this did not make him any faster. On the drums I can't play any faster lightly than I can with a lot of power, actually probably the opposite. Just using a lot of power tires you out VERY fast.

...and now you know. *ding*This Message Edited On 01.29.08

They are nothing like Suicide Silence or affiliated with "deathcore" in anyway.

^ lol.

@bringon - I'm not a triggers hater, but on this album it just sounds over the top artifical, pretty much like the rest of the cd. It has that kind of "mechanical" feel the reviewer mentioned, and is my main gripe with this band (still very listenable though)
