Effin' gay. I've had this album, legally, for almost a week, and it's apparently been on iTunes since December 5th. Did iTunes get it early for some reason or did they release it prematurely? Either way, not a bad album but not great, either. And white men CAN play the blues, foo. Listen to some Stevie Ray Vaughan. Or Eric Clapton. Or even John f*ckin' Mayer Trio.

Great review. I really enjoyed the tracks I heard on the listening party and Dustin's voice is definitely in my top 3. I'm gonna pick up the album soon.

I've listened to the entire album several times today, and I gotta say I like most of it, particularly "Blanket of Ghosts", it's my favourite song off the album. I agree that "Blood and Wine" is extremely cheesy, I usually skip that song.
Oh by the way, nice review! This Message Edited On 01.24.07

I like this album, a lot. Dustin's vocal melodies are great, and fun to sing.
I feel like the emphasis here is more on the lyrics, with the instruments just serving as a platform for them to stand on.

But the lyrics aren't stellar or anything.

So I finally bought this, and I like it...but I'm just so let down. I know he's capable of more than this.

I really like this a lot - I've had it on repeat for the past few days.
I'm torn between Blanket of Ghosts, Consider the Ravens or Please come home for the best song, but I think Consider... just gets it.

I've listened to it quite a bit and I enjoy it. There's nothing impressive about it, even the lyrics aren't as good as normal Dustin Kensrue but it's enjoyable easy listening. A little too much bible preaching for my tastes but still good.

i think the album is much better than this review...
i'll give the album 4.5, the review a 2

Because you don't agree or because it's bad?
|
| |
a little bit of both i suppose, but mainly because i don't agree, and the word "nice" was used 4 times in one paragraph.
|
| |
but more seriously, i just thought it was very critical for an album of plain old good music, and a side project at that. not a bad review overall though.

I give this a 3.5 just for I Knew You Before. The other songs arent bad, but they just dont do it for me.
|
| |
not a huge fan of this album. But then again, I'm not a huge fan of the genre...so who am I to judge it. But the only song that really suck out to me was please come home.

Good review but I think you were a little harsh. Great album, solid at worst.
