Literally took me years to get into. Back in the day I was absolutely unable to really appreaciate what the band did here. My fav BG album now. Why? Tons of smart experiments that never make it sound unlike BG. Great songwriting with both some old and new features. Uplifting mood sans the cheese. Yes there are some failed numbers but let's skip those.
The album was way ahead of its time I guess. Unfortunately the band never continued with this path and chose to rehash things later on At the Edge of Time which was good but nothing special. And then that abysmal Red Mirror thing which got enormous praise for being progressive and everything. But progressive my ass. Lame and poorly produced shit with songs going nowhere and orchestrations butchered by the terrible mixing. THIS album is progressive in every right way.
