First Power Metal album I ever bought and now trapped in the wretched genre (and thus the associated ridicule) for life :P

Otherland is probably the best song they've ever written.

I've been playing this since early this morning, now listening to A Night At The Opera.

I'd give that to "And Then There Was Silence" or "Somewhere Far Beyond."

Really like how this album has it's own style; while similar to their latest this one has a flair they've yet to go back to.
Makes for a fun engaging listen for sure!

First of all, blind guardian is not and never was a "power" metal band. Power metal bands come mainly from the US and not from europe.
Blind Guardian was mostly a speed metal band with many central european folk elements. That's for the record.
Concerning the particular album, it's a very good one. Not so full of sounds and "noisy" as we are used to. Less metal for sure. Of course that doesnt mean its not top notch. It's fresh and vibrant, with changes in styles and rhythms. Otherland, turn the page, scalds and shadows are the best tracks imo. Definitely worth to give it a shot. Much more vibrant and friendly to the ear than the "night at the opera".
