The track Guardian is so godly. Top 5 power ballads worthy.

I think this album sounds more like thrash than progressive metal. It sounds sort of like the band Helstar.

Just got this in the mail from amazon for only like $3 (plus shipping). All in all I'd say it was worth the money.

I almost want to say I like the Arch / Matheos album more so. Not sure though.

Arch/Matheos blows this and as a result every other John Arch recording away. It's a completely different style though so I will never start enjoying this album any less.

That Arch/Matheos album is awesome. You can't really compare the two albums since the style is so different (not to mention the 20+ years difference, too).

I really like his restraint on Sympathetic Resonance. Its one of the cases in recent memory where I feel like age and
experience have truly paid off.
Great album that took some time to grow on me due to the time frame that it showed up in. I just wasn't ready to take
it in, even though I knew I'd enjoy it.
This however will always be a cornerstone of what I like in prog metal, and also the reason why I dislike Dream Theatre.
I was 10 years old when I heard this, and 16 when I heard Images and Words, and much as I liked some part of what
DT was presenting I just couldn't connect. Looking back, this album is the reason why. Everything I like about prog-
metal when it knows what it wants to do to impress it's listener without going over the edge into wankage.
Edit: which reminds me, i need to rate both albums, and S.R. is definitely one of my highlights of this year.

I should add, I still hear the Maiden influences on this album which is what drew me in as a kid. The fact that Sypmathetic Resonance is a totally different animal that retains everything I love about FW but ups the ante on how tight the compositions are almost makes me want to 5 it.

For sure. There's just the right amount of "progressive" on this to make the songs more interesting, but not take anything away from the flow of them.
This is probably my favorite FW album when I just want metal. Such great heavy metal guitars and vocals. Much better than No Exit.

Oh, absolutely. Alder era is best.
Spectre Within is alright, but I don't like Night on Brocken at all. Ray Alder Fates Warning has never gone wrong.
