I found Two Hunters to be more focused and better structured, thus a wee bit better. They are both solid though and I can't disagree with that. I've listened to this one six or seven times over the last week (mostly while driving to work) and the good parts are just awesome, but then the other parts just drag. I'll probably start listening to their next album now.

If you think it drags I doubt you'd like the other one anymore. That's just their style.

I think their dragging parts, especially the soft moments on Two Hunters, have a very post rock/ metal kind of vibe to them. If you find that sub-genre to drag as a whole, you might find this band to be pretty boring. This Message Edited On 08.26.08

I really like post-rock actually. Post metal kind of lags a little bit sometimes (a lot of the bands don't make very good use of their quieter sections), but it's not bad either. I'm not giving up on this yet.

The album really struck a chord with me while driving to school one day in what had to have been one of the most vicious thunderstorms I've ever seen. Pulled over on the side of the road, lightning flashing from every which way, kind of added to the atmosphere of this album. The opening song on here is just immense in every sense of the word.

Yeah, maybe if I had the light show to go with it I might have had a stronger initial impression ;)

But seriously you have to listen to this basically kinda in solitude just to let it hit you. You cant really blare it on speakers while you work on your laptop.

Alright, I'll do that. I've had it blarring in my truck on the way to work every time I've heard it.

Yeah see I just dont think that's the right way to approach it. At least until it "clicks" and you familiarize yourself with it, it works best to just let it absorb itself naturally.

Ill try that Coc. The only times i listened to it was while i was on the computer.
Never had that with Two Hunters though. This Message Edited On 08.26.08

I enjoy this quite a bit more than Two Hunters. Cleansing is the only song I really like from it, whereas I love all of Diadems. I also agree that this isn't an album to blare in your car. Headphones are definitely the way to go.

sludgey section in the middle of the title track is fantastic.
I might bump this up to a 4.5 but i want to give it a few more listens before i do so.
