What are the numbers in the brackets after the song titles for? That might be a retarded question so i apologise.

Cheers for the glowing comments. :D I put the scores in brackets because it integrates it into the review, rather than putting it clumsily at the end. Same with the band member names.

About the thrash metal thing, I'm more of a Megadeth fan personally, but there's no denying that while Slayer made some great thrash albums (they're one of my favourites as well), Metallica really pushed the boat out, so to speak.

And Leviathan's brilliant, no doubt, but it doesn't have the divine spark that Blood Mountain has. It feels somewhat restricted compared to Blood Mountain.

Excellent, excellent first review. Bravo.

As for this album, I haven't heard it, but I don't like Mastodon. So I'm assuming I won't like this album.

Wow, very cool album, i must say, the first time i heard "Crystal Skull" and "The Wolf is Loose", i didnt quite liked it that much, but as soon as i heard "Sleeping Giant" and "Capillarian Crest", they grew on me a lot, and now i enjoy this album a lot. This Message Edited On 12.29.06

Colony of Birchmen is a brutally overrated song. This album is fantastic and the song is great but I wouldn't even call it one of the top 5 on the album.

This is something you have to realy get into to like, but I haven't gotten there yet. It deserves a few more listens until I can sort it out.

I prefer this to Leviathan, but a lot of the songs are here are weak.

Great review, but I find this album to be rather boring. I listen to a lot of stuff that takes multiple listens to get into and this album didn't seem as such.

I realise that this is a megabump, but seriously, "literally swimming in the atmosphere"? Come on.

To previous poster, I was using artistic license maybe. But at the time, this is how I honestly felt, that no matter where you turned, you were hit in the face by the concept.
