I mean...
IS IT POSSIBLE?

I think Nattens Madrigal is better than this one. As a whole this one seems like more of a musical accomplishment because of how it incorporates alot of different elements seamlessly, but I think Nattens Madrigal has a better atmosphere and the riffs are better overall.

This is better than Nattens imo. The cancerous production on Nattens doesn't help either.

The "cancerous" production is part of why it's better than this one. Necro production wouldn't fit this album, but it does absolute wonders for Nattens Madrigal and that's part of the reason it has a better atmosphere.

hm, I gave it another listen on headphones and I guess it does actually give it a signature element, and I could also actually hear things on headphones. Perhaps I was a bit harsh, but I still think Bergtatt is more timeless
They're kind of like the Opeth of black metal I guess.

Except their songs don't get boring.
Hmmm... That's exactly what I thought this was, and kinda cheesy at times with those clean high in the mix vocals.
The production was the icing on the cake :/

Oh my god, seriously you people are fucking pathetic if you cannot handle the production on this album, go listen to Belketre and then complain about production, but for god sakes this album has production as clear and atmospheric as it needs to be.
And calling Garms' high vocals cheesy is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. This Message Edited On 12.10.07

Well, it wasn't the right word. There's nothing wrong the high vocals themselves, I just thought they sounded out of place at times.

I don't see how you can say this album's production is bad, it's not lo-fi by any means.

I'll take back what I said there. I recently listened to this again and I must say I'm impressed. Amazing atmosphere and arrangements. Just ordered it so I can have this unique piece of music in my collection

Yeah, I don't much care for straight black metal, but somehow this album just owns me.

This isnt really straight Black Metal. This is more of Black Metal and Folk Metal mixed.

You're right Hawks, my bad, ironically enough, it's really those folk elements you speak of that makes this album own me lol.

I agree. I wish they would've stuck with the Black/Folk Metal thing throughout their career. The only non-metal album i like of theirs is Shadows Of The Sun.
