not enough deedle-dee guitars (hammer-ons? I dont know guitars)

I just think the album's stock improves considerably with "between the end" and then goes from there

Maybe you're being sarcastic but the chorus lead is like all hammer ons and pull offs

yeah it's the rare album that gets progressively better with each song

youre probably right that it is the same thing mechanically but for some reason the "between the end" chorus and something like "staring at the sun" have got that particular deedle-dee pattern lemme listen to "image" again though

tbh every time i listen to this i'm like 'image of the invisible' and 'red sky' are basically linkin park songs

which is cool and dope, i like plenty of linkin park songs. but the elevation of this particular album/those particular songs has always been kinda confusing to me

rom I'm nominally with you. I guess the concert changed my mind. would still not call this my thing taste-wise but the compression of catchy hooks into every song and the sort of interplay between rough/hard/easy/soft whatever is very well done. that concert though whew

and i should be very clear that the linkin park comparison is not to be an insult or be holier than thou - i love me some good angst-pop alt rock stuff. my comment is much less "this album isn't good" and more "i'm curious why this particular album is embedded in the sputconsciousness"

I would hope that Image isn't actually anyone's favorite song from this album, even though it's a solid song.

Real solid song yeah, though my fave clearly is "The Earth Will Shake"

Pretty sure Image is the main reason I don't have this 5'd. Almost feels like it should have been an intro track instead of an actual song. The chorus is pretty good, but the verses kind of annoy me. I think it's the call and gang shout/response, We are the Image of the Invisible, that irks me more than anything. It probably works great live, tho, and most likely was a single worthy item for the label or something.

Not a bad song, per se, but just doesn't hit the same way the rest of the album does for me.
